Pecan Crackers for Pecan Trees
One item that you should not be without if you own a pecan tree is a pecan cracker. If you don’t get them picked up soon the squirrels will not wait around for you. If you are looking for pecan trees for sale you may as well start looking for a pecan cracker as well.
Nut Crackers
When you have pecan trees or any type of nut trees in your yard, for that matter, you should always own a nut cracker. They will save you a lot of time when eating or storing your pecans and other nuts. By shelling your pecans you will cut down on the space needed to store them and you get the pecan shelling out of the way right at the start. You won’t have to worry about doing this when you get ready to eat some pecans later in the year.
Pecans will keep quite a long time if you put them in a freezer bag and place them in your freezer. Just be sure to write the date on the bag so you can eat the ones frozen first in the correct order of storage. That way you will always be eating the oldest one that you stored first and you will keep rotating your stock.
Depending on how many nut trees you have will determine the type of pecan nut cracker that you want. There are nut crackers that are more for decoration like the Toy Soldier nut cracker and the seasonal ones that you find around Christmas time. Then there are the commercial nut crackers that are for people that own many pecan trees or run a business selling pecans at a store or over the internet.
Decorative Pecan Crackers
As mentioned earlier, the Toy Soldier pecan cracker is probably the most popular decorative pecan cracker. They come in many styles and normally stand between 15″ to 20″ tall. You can find them dressed as a king, prince, or soldier and with or without a Christmas type decoration. You can even buy them as tall as an average man to decorate during the holidays and if you have the room for it.
Easy Pecan Crackers
If you are looking for a quick way to shell all of those pecans and get them bagged and stored for future use then you need an easy pecan cracker. These have no flash or frills but they get the job done and they get it done quick. Usually they just look similar to the wire pliers that you would have in your tool box or with a handle and place to stick the pecan. You would just place the pecan in it, pull the handle, and then just take the shell off of the pecan.
These are used by someone who only has a few trees and not a whole lot of pecans to shell each years. It does make the job of shelling pecans a whole lot easier when you use them for cooking and desserts. Trying to crack your pecans with a hammer or just by using your hands can get old very quick.
